Jim Curran is not your typical business owner turned real estate agent. He is an engaging and fun-loving individual who has a zest for life and a passion for helping people. Jim owned and operated Curran Chevrolet-Buick Inc. for 37 years, during which time he assisted countless customers with their car buying and service needs. Jim recently became licensed as a Michigan real estate salesperson and has joined the Barr Team with Keller Williams Upper Peninsula/Manistique.

Born and raised in Manistique, Jim graduated from Northwood University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a minor in accounting. He also graduated from The National Automobile Dealer Association Dealer Academy program in 1984 in Boulder, Colorado, proving his commitment to the automotive industry. He was the Dealer Principle at Curran Chevrolet-Buick Inc. from 1994 to 2020, and he is a third-generation car dealer, making him a veteran of the industry.

Jim’s real estate interests are varied: he has built two homes in the Manistique area and has bought and sold numerous properties in the area. He also owned and operated The Warehouse Gym and Entertainment Center, where he helped to host wedding receptions, proms, and private parties, demonstrating his creativity and ability to think outside the box.

Jim is also an active member of his community. He served two terms as a Michigan Automobile Dealer Association Board of Director and two terms on the Schoolcraft County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is currently on the Schoolcraft County Canvassing board, showing his dedication to making community a better place.

In his free time, Jim enjoys boating, kayaking, and fishing. He spends a lot of time at his cabin on Big Manistique Lake in Curtis, and he enjoys doing home improvement and woodworking projects. Jim has one daughter, Ava, who is about to graduate from Western Michigan University with a degree in digital marketing.

Jim's passion for helping people and solving problems is something that he brings to the real estate business. He has always enjoyed selling cars and assisting his loyal customers, and he hopes to help many people realize their dream of homeownership. Jim will work hard to find the best value for his clients and will be available when they are ready.
